Tips on personalizing your Christmas stockings

One of the most popular Christmas traditions is hanging up Christmas stockings the night before Christmas eve. Originally these stockings were real socks, but nowadays they have become sacks in the shape of socks – and there are some Jumbo Christmas Stockings that are really gigantic. Traditionally, they get ‘stuffed’ with candies, fruits and small gifts for children, but increasingly they are also being used for adults – and even for pets!

There is a wide variety of Christmas stockings being offered. The most traditional are the Needlepoint Christmas Stockings, made of needlepoint (wow, who would have thought so), a special type of embroidery on a weave canvas. This is also the type of stockings most appropiate for personalization. You can actually create your own needlepoint stocking and do the embroidery yourself – but that is rather work-intensive and it’s only recommendable if you are handy. However, you can buy one of the many Needlepoint Christmas Stocking Kits available at Amazon. Then all you have to do is use the supplied letters to put the names on the stockings and you’re ready to go.

If you have a pet, it’s also a nice idea to get a cat or a dog christmas stocking. You can fill it with little treats for your little best friend.
